Entry Requirement

  • tik icon Security officers possess a minimum of six months' experience in the role to satisfy the Years-in-Grade (YIG) requirement.
  • tik icon Able to listen, read, write and speak English at WPLN Level 2 or equivalent.
  • tik icon Open to Singaporeans, Permanent Residents (PR), and Foreigners.
  • tik icon Minimum age: 18 years old and above.
  • tik icon Minimum education: Secondary school qualification or higher.
  • tik icon Suitable for new entrants to the Security Industry.
  • tik icon Possess good interpersonal skills.
  • tik icon Applicants who do not meet the above requirements will be required to attend an in-house interview for eligibility assessment.
  • tik icon Certification: WSQ Statement of Attainment issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
  • tik icon Registration Deadline: 5 days before course commencement.
  • tik icon Dress Code: Casual attire (collared shirt & long pants / uniform) with covered shoes.

Progressive wage model for security

The Progressive Wage Model (PWM) for security officers was developed by the Security Tripartite Cluster (STC). It features:

  • Training requirements to ensure that workers have the skills they need to carry out their jobs.
  • Progressive wages set at each level. This ensures that workers are paid wages that correspond to their skills and productivity.

The PWM requirements are mandatory. They cover all Singapore citizens and permanent residents who are employed as security officers in licensed security agencies, or by in-house employers that hire foreign workers.
